My husband claims I'm the queen of indecisivenes...as true as that may sometimes be, to me it is more or less thoughtfulness in overdrive. So here is my dilemma: I mentioned the other day that my perfectionism led me to frogging the whole friggin baby blanket. Now I am at an impass: being her 4th child she has PLENTY of blankies, and I know it is nice to have a special blanket for each child, but....while I was trying to figure this out on my own, I came across this great bunting. It is adorable and with the SIDS issue seems like a great idea, I got many of these in Polarfleece as gifts for Gracie. Melanie reminded me how great the other blanket was and now I just cant decide. So I will not touch this project before I leave for TX, and will just take what I need to start it there; and I would love for anyone with an opinion to weigh in on this one! The color would be the same as the blanket before which is a Mint green and a baby denim (blue). TIA!

The Cubs - yes, as in baseball

***Feel free to skip reading this if you have no interest in sports, there is nothing about knitting in this post, my apologies***

Ok, as you know, I'm from San Diego, home of the ultimate "fair-weather" fans. But believe me, my dad took me to my first Padres game when I was 3, and I've loved my Pads' since then...through thick and thin.
However, now that we've moved to Chicago I am getting a taste of what true fans are like. OMG, on the news this week, the sports coverage has been all about wristbands you could get so you can have a chance in the drawing held live on radio tomorrow to be among the 1,000 (yes, 1,000) to have 1st chance at tickets.
Now, for the last 3 yrs that we came here to visit I've been bugging my hubby about going to Wrigley Field because hey, it's cool! And he told me the tickets were sold out last year. Honestly, I didnt believe him (I'm human) so before we came out the second time I got a tourbook of Chicago and it confirmed that although most games are sold out before the season begins, often there are SRO seats available. SRO! This was just inconcievable to the girl who came from the land of Monday Night specials where for $5 you could get in the game, sit somewhere between 1st and 3rd base just above field level and you could get a hot dog for $1!
My hubby (he grew up out here) just shrugs and says "we have REAL fans out here" - yeah that went over well. Anyway, welcome to the land of Lincoln, guess we'll have to check out some AAA ball this year (sorry, we dont follow the Sox, and apparently its dangerous on the Southside - wouldnt know havent been there).
Guess we'll just have to go back to San Diego to catch a ball game ~smirk~

I'm gonna live forever....

I am going to die at 86. When are you? Click here to find out!

Ok, so this one is a little morbid, but like I said when I stumble upon these I cant resist - ok, so I didnt even try, but whats the fun in that?

Happy knitting!

:p Thanks Melanie! I can't resist these things. As much as I want to deny the last statement it's true...oh well!

Hooray for me!

So I've finally taught myself enough html to add some items to my side bar. I was looking all over for tutorials or tools or something to help me; and found that it isnt really that hard if you take the time to understand what's going on. Big thank you to:
NCSA's Beginners Guide to HTML
Without this help I'd still be frustrated with the appearance of my blog.

I had attempted to post yesterday an update on the SnB Big Bad Baby Blanket, but it got lost between Create and Publish, and among other errors I decided it was just best for me to leave my blog alone for the day.

So anyhoo, yeah, I ripped it out....the whole thing. That was very hard for me, and not what I had intended to do, but once I got to ripping to the minor errors, I'd find another not so much farther down, and another, and all the sudden it was no more. That's the first time I've frogged a whole project. I had to go hide on-line from it for awhile, pretending I was looking for what I want to do with it now, but I was just healing. I am better now :) I think it wants to be one of those really big dishcloth blankies since I dont have much time left (she's due Apr 1 - no joke!) and all of her kids have come early so far; this is baby #4.

And I finally found a pattern for a sweater for my baby. I was about to give up and buy something (I really intend to someday) but my expense account barely handles just buying yarn and maybe a pair of needles here and there. And I already have my eye on the Rogue sweater pattern, and I want to get a book on socks (I may just get some self patterning yarn and needles for now). I'm not cheap, just tight at the moment.

So, I've gotta get to work on the blankie before Gracie gets up from her nap, yikes, I hear her so I must have been on-line longer than I planned. Oh well, baby calls!

Happy Knitting!

Gracie Fingers

She finally popped her first tooth on Feb 5th - she'd been working on it since she was nearly 4 months old. So, all the fussing and gnawing worked out and we have one little pearl (last week I thought we'd get another, but she said not so fast mommy). So now my cutie takes a break from sucking her fingers to flick her tooth and all I can say is at least she's cute!

So I finally did it!

I know I've been slacking, but due to technical difficulties with my hubby's digital, I fired up my camcorder (which takes not as great but worthy photos) so I could share my handiwork with you all. Sorry for the long list of pics, but needed to get them up and for all of you who have little ones you know how things sometimes cannot be done the way you used to anymore. So the coloring in the pictures is a little off - a little yellowed for whatever reason; but you now have the general idea of what I've been up to.
Been a little more tired than usual, so havent been racing through projects like I was, hopefully this is just a passing funk. Plus Grace hasnt been as predictible lately, so I've had less time with my other passion - she'll always come first!
We are gearing up for our visit to TX, we'll be gone all next week and my grandparents internet isnt always predictible so it may be a while before you hear from me after Fri. They have not seen Grace yet (in person) so we are all very excited about this trip. Plus this is my Grandma who knits so I'm hoping to glean some tips and show off some of what I've done so far.
Happy knitting!

My First Ever Knitting Project Posted by Hello

I didnt forget

So I said yesterday that I'd go into the details on the sweater later, and then disappeared. Well...that was due to some technical difficulties: my husband's digital camera's batteried died on me, and he has lost the AC power cord (typical of him). So I'll have to wait to see if his batteries will hold charge a new charge or go buy some more. So you'll have to see my masterpiece later ;)
It did turn out ok, other than I used too bulky of yarn so it doesnt drape quite as well as I'd hope, but oh well - I finished my 1st sweater, Yeah!

Happy Valentines Day!

So my daughter was my Valentine today, her daddy left for NY early this morning so it was just the two of us. I've been on-line more today than usual. I had some catching up to do in my knitting groups, I love reading other people's adventures in knitting. My own adventure has found its way to many projects all at once....I'm suffering a little bit of short attention span with each project so I am working on 4 potentially 5 all at once - yes, I have succeeded in becoming an octopus. As I have finally pieced my sweater together (more on that one later), I am working on 2 dishcloths for my G-ma (having already finished 1 last night); I have maybe 5 rows left on a baby blanket for my Sister-In-Law which I am considering frogging because I made an error in the beginning that I did not catch until I was too far in to go back (this was my very 1st project ever), and now I've made another error which necesitated another error in the border - I think I will at least try to fix this one (two); my "Pebble Beach" cap sleeve top (explained below); and I'm considering starting either a vest or lapghan. What I really need is focus but my DH bought me some Patons Evita yarn and pattern book last time he was out on business, and while I have no problem with the pattern, he chose a color that makes me think of Fruity Pebbles Cereal and to make matters worse I began it while he was watching The Pebble Beach Pro/Am this weekend, so it will now be dubbed my "Pebble Beach" shirt.
---By the way, I tried to pursuade him to let me trade the skeins for a color I would enjoy wearing more, however it has become quite a pet project for him so I will do my best to make it with a smile and wear it for him. I guess the point is I get to knit and that's all that really matters anyway, right?

My Sweater Will Have Arms!

OK, so I think I was just being rather thick-headed last weekend because when I woke up on Monday everything became clear for me as to where I went wrong. I reminded myself that I am a newbie and this is my first sweater so I've gotten over feeling stupid and am a third of the way done with the 2nd sleeve now. I guess the easiest way to explain my hang up was I wanted the pattern to hold my hand a little more, but as I said earlier, all is well now. Now I am just worried about getting the dpns to work for the neckline....I am running into technical difficulties as far as 16" circulars go.
My last hope was my non-chain lys and after going there (1st time) I think I want to find another one, the lady was not very kind overall, and as I handed her my credit card she said she only took cash or check (the card runner was directly under my hand) so I dont know what her problem was; apparently she didnt want my business and I am just as happy finding somewhere else to shop. There was some lovely yarn in the store so I may have to try another time and hope there are nicer people employed there. So, I know there are a few stores in the city, I'm sure there have to be some more in the suburbs - I just havent come across them yet, and I guess I could always buy on-line (I'm just a little more of an instant gratification girl and hate to wait for stuff to ship).
Well, TTFN, catch ya later!

Hello

Well I guess it is appropriate to make my first post at 12:21 in the morning - but I find myself still up even though I know I should be in bed because my nearly 8 month old doesn't care how late I stayed up...she's going to wake up at 7 anyway. She doesn't do it to punish, of course; she just has an incredibly consistent alarm clock within her self.
The only reason I'm still up is the sweater I'm trying to knit is about to turn into a sleeveless sweater if I cannot figure out this pattern. All was going quite well, which is probably why I'm so aggravated..."pride cometh before the fall" and all. I've been working on the cuff for the first sleeve since yesterday evening, on and off during today, and all through the Superbowl - Hooray Patriots! - and had to finally frog the sleeve and escape online for awhile to keep me from doing something bad to my project before I cooled down.
Well, as I've cooled down, I'm pretty excited I ended here. I've been lurking here and there checking things out and this seems to be the platform I've been looking for.
I'm off to work on a few settings and then to sleepy town.
Good Night!
